Background Information:

We got this requirement from Dr. Jaya Vaishnavi Singh garu who got to know about Me2We through our Facebook page. She has been following our Me2We activities on FB and approached us whether we can support the old aged couple Amara Subramanyam garu and Amara Pushpavathi garu. They are from Atmakur, Kurnool and got affected due to Corona situation.

Subramanyam garu lost his eye sight 2 years ago and his wife Pushpavathi garu is deaf. He used to work at Babai hotel in Atamkur and his wife was working as a servant maid in two houses. This couple don’t have kids and there are no one to take care about them.

As this old aged couple don't have mobile phone, we had couple of calls with them with the help of Padmavathi garu (Mother of Jaya Vaishnavi garu where Pushpavathi garu was working as a maid) to understand their current situation.

We understand that they were unable to manage the monthly expenses due to Corona crisis and also they are in need of hearing aid for Pushpavathi garu which will be helpful to them for their communication.

Our member Kiran Sreeram and our well wisher Vidyasagr garu visited their house and physically verified this requirement.

After understanding their situation, as an emergency support we have provided rice & groceries which can serve for 2 months and we are also working on purchasing hearing aid for Pushpavathi garu.

Volunteer: Sridhar Gangidi

Background story:

We got this requirement from Naga Prasad garu and the requirement is to support degree 1st year college fee of Dharmaraju (Partially Visually Impaired student).

Dharmaraju is from Lachiram Thanda, Hanwada Mandal, Mahbubnagar district, Telangana and currently he is studying Degree 2nd year @ Sri Ram Degree College, Kothapet, Hyderabad.

His father and mother used to work as agricultural labors. He has 5 elder sisters. Last year, his father met with an accident and could not do any work now. His mother also had problem with her leg joints recently and even she is also unable to go for any work. Currently, Dharamaraju's family depends on his pension (Rs. 3000).

Dharmaraju thought of applying for scholarship and pursue his education last year. Suddenly, his father met with a major accident and he has to go to his home and be with his father. His father’s leg was broken and he couldn’t do field work now.  So, he missed to apply scholarship for this first year.

The college management gave sometime  to pay 1st year fee and allowed him to attend the 1st year classes. As they have already given enough time to pay first year fee, now they informed him to pay the fee by 19/10/2020. Otherwise, he will not be allowed to write the exams.

After all discussion and considering his emergency situation, we have paid his college fee (Rs.8000) with in due date and our member Sridhar Gangidi went to Sri Ram Degree College and paid the fee.

Thank you Sridhar for your great efforts to execute this event during this tough Covid-19 situation and also heavy floods at your area.

Due to current Covid-19 situation, we did virtual verification for this requirement. Our member Sagar Motupalli and Kiran Sreeram virtually verified it.

Thank you MPC (Me2We Planning Committee) for your support in quick completion of verification process by considering the urgency of the requirement.

Background Information:

We got this requirement from SNSR college management - Dr. R. Ratna Swami garu (CORRESPONDENT) and SRI T.S. Rajendra Kumar garu (PRINCIPAL).

The requirement is to support SNSR junior college part-time staff who got impacted due to Covid-19 lockdown with rice & groceries. Recently we distributed groceries for SNSR degree college part-time staff and college management approached us if we can provide similar support to junior college part-time staff as they are facing the similar issues due to Covid-19 situation.

Part-time lecturers who are working at SNSR Degree College are not getting their salaries (they used to get 5k to 7k per month based on their experience) and part-time attenders are getting only partial salaries (2k per month for dusting work) as the colleges are completely closed since March 2020 due to Covid-19 lockdown.

Due to this Covid-19 situation, there was no income source for them from past 6 months. College CORRESPONDENT Dr. R. Ratna Swami garu distributed groceries once in April month and they were managing their basic needs all these lockdown days by taking hand loans. However, their situation becomes very tough now to them to meet their basic family needs.

We had one on one calls with all the staff members, understood their situation and distributed rice & groceries to their families.
