Event 312 - Support for Ruchitha's ASD-PAH treatment - Stage2

Dear All,

We did our donation (Rs.16574) to Ruchitha's stage2 treatment on 11th May 2018.

Our members Prashanth Thota and Kiran Sreeram visited Continental hospital and admitted Ruchitha in hospital.

Dr.Vishwanath Gella (Pulmonologist) and Dr.Prashanth Praksh Rao Patil (Cardiologist) have gone gone through the chest x-ray, pulse, 2D Echo and other laboratory reports and confirmed that there is a good improvement in health condition.

Both doctors have prescribed medicines for 1 month and informed us to bring Ruchitha for checkup after 1 month. Based on the health condition, Ruchitha needs to under go for tests to identify the actual problem.

We have utilized below members contributions for this stage2 treatment.

*Stage 2* - Summary of Treatment done on 11th May 2018 and Ruchitha's Health Condition::

Ruchita looks pretty fine now. Today Continental Hospitals tested blood sample, took X-Ray and 2D-Echo. As per doctors, she is doing better compared to last visit. She is been improved in terms of weight and respiration. Doctor also suggested to discontinue usage of oxygen at home.

She has to continue the prescribed medication and see doctor after 6 weeks.

As per doctors, Ruchita has a complicated problem of high lung pressure with a hole in the heart.

They can close the hole only if the lung pressure comes down, but it seems that the high lung pressure won't come down. Also, looks like the hole is helping her to survive by countering the effects of high lung pressure.

The high lung pressure is making her susciptable to simple viruses and so is why she is suffering now.

Because of high lung pressure the heart's right ventricle may get damaged over a period of time and she may have to be put on oxygen support again.

With the current technology there is no treatment for this problem and the only solution is heart-lung transplantation which is again not suggested beacuse of its post surgery complications.

It's very sad to know the condition of the girl.
